How can I access my emails on my computer or when i'm away or on holiday? Back to top >
There are basically 2 ways in which you can access your email...

    Option 1.
Once you have a website address we will set up any email/s account you wish such as sales@..., info@... john@... etc. on the server and send you your password in order to set up your email address see setting up your email account >. This means you can have one or many email accounts set up for one website, recieve individual emails to individual email accounts, emails received from you will be from your official email address (not a personal account) and it means that you will be able to access your email from any computer from anywhere in the world. To do this all you will need to do is to go to "mail.yourwebsite" (excluding the http://www.) and enter your email address and password (the same password you used to set up your email account) This facility is available through Outhouse Media's servers and only available for those clients who host their website with us.

    Option 2.
You can have your email address set up and forwarded to an existing email account - in which case you don't have to do anything - just let us know which account you want to recieve your website emails and we will set this up for you. For instance this means you can have "yourname@yourwebsiteaddress.co.uk" (ie. info@outhousemedia.net) pointing at any other email address desired (ie. johnsmith@hotmail.com). This then means that any emails sent to "your official email address" will automatically be received into your personal email account. We don't however advise this as the downfall is that when you send an email out or reply to an email it will show as having come from your personal email account rather than your official website email address.

Does my website go on Google and other Search Engines and how does it all work? Back to top >
Search Engines are by far the starting point for Internet users each and every day from home and the office. With nearly 90% of Internet traffic originating from the major search engines and directories daily, getting your website listed with the major portals is essential. The larger search engines index over 120 million documents, so competing for the top spots is extremely difficult and competitive.

Google has become one of the most popular players in the search engine market and is making itself known with its very powerful and accurate search results. Google's database may be smaller than some of the large search engines, but the quality of the results make up for it. Google for example, only returns results based on all the keywords a user entered. In addition, Google keeps a local cache of popular sites that are requested, so if the main webserver of the destination site is down, Google will retrieve their cached copy for quick access.

What we do for you: As a matter of course and free of charge with any website (as we believe what's the point in paying for a website if no one can find you) we register your website to Google. We build into your website Meta Tags which we relate to the content and text held within your website and which help you in your search engine rankings.

Once your Website has been submitted: Getting listed in Google can either be very quick (under 2 weeks) or very long (several months) depending on their crawl schedule and how many other websites are in the queue to be indexed before yours.

What are META TAGS and how do they help you? The Robots META Tag is used by search engines as a means to indicate the level of spidering a search engine should do. Most search engines look for this META tag and will only index and/or spider the pages you want to be indexed. Search engines that support META tags will use the keywords found on your pages as a means to categorize your website based on the search engines indexing algorithms (proprietary algorithms which index your website in search engine databases). We ensure we choose keywords that are relevant to your site and avoid excessive repetition as many search engines will penalize your rankings for attempting to abuse their system. Similar to the Description META Tag, search engines give priority to the first few words in your description, so focus on your main keywords and then elaborate further by using synonyms or other related words.

Search engines that support META tags will often display the Description META tag along with your title in their results.

The Description and Keyword Meta Tags are the two principle META tags that search engines look for when indexing your website. The description and keywords that you provide are likely the words that will show up in results, so we make sure that we put the most energy and thought into the text you use to describe your website. I want a website, but don't know what to do or where to start Back to top >
Outhouse Media works to a three stage completion process. During the first stage we will discuss with you the potential for your site, pick up content if necessary and work out exactly what you are looking for from your website. From here we will have enough information to produce a visual concept of the potential for your site, this can be viewed and discussed during the second stage, where we can also pick up more content in order to complete your site. Stage three is site sign off, where the completed website has been programmed up and all information put into the site ready to go live. Once the site has been signed off it can usually go live the same day. Please note that although we operate a three stage process, this may vary depending upon clients needs.

Outhouse Media takes on board the vast majority of the process, but we welcome clients' own personal amounts of input, but usually a client's position is to collate the information they would like to see on their own site.

It will then begin to move up the rankings - this is not fixed and you will fluctuate in the results positioning depending on search engine usage etc.

We make no guarantees regarding search ranking results as it is impossible to calculate - many companies will guarantee number one positioning or first page results - THIS IS INACURATE and impossible to guarantee. We also use our own FREE comprehensive Website Statistics Package - giving you full data over your own website. What does "Hosting" and "Renewel" mean? and what do I need to do? Back to top >
Hosting simply means the physical space your website uses on our server and where your website files are stored. Renewels basically renew the physical space your website files use, your email address/s, (and any associated forwarding), your domain name (website address - which is then paid for by us), your Website Statistics Package and any other attched services.

With every website we produce we give one year's free hosting, after this time, hosting is charged out at £150 per annum. You will be invoiced for this renewal three/four weeks before your hosting is due to expire. The hosting fee keeps your site live and email activated for a further 12 months. Domain name renewals are every two years after purchase and price depends upon your .co.uk or .com suffix.(Hosting renewal dates are classed as the date of purchase of the domain name - not the date of the launch of the website). Secondary domains and renewels are charged out for seperately. Please see our Prices and Packages > for further information.
